Clash is a card game that has players choosing 3 Gruffs each to fight on their side. Each Gruff will bring 8 ability cards to your deck for a total deck size of 24 cards. Your Shepherd has a special action like drawing a card when the other Shepherd takes damage. Each Shepherd has a set amount of life points that will lower as you take damage. Each Shepherd also has a crazy stat that is used for the cost of playing cards. Your crazy will not go down once you use a card, because once you go crazy there is no going back. Each goat has 3 stats and a special ability. The Gruff's fat stat is the goat's defense/life. Each Gruff has a mean stat that shows how hard the goat will attack for. Finally the Gruffs are weird and due to weird nature of your Gruffs, when you activate them you will increase your crazy stat by their weird stat. You will line up your goats horizontally in a row of 3 with your Shepherd behind them.
Clash joins the ranks of other great head to head games out in the market. Clash's theme is very unique and has humorous flavor text on some of the cards. The art is very colorful and will definitely grab the attention of those looking for a game to play. Clash plays fairly quickly and can be set up with premade decks or choosing from the additional cards to customize a deck to your play style. Clash works as a great introduction point into previously released Gruff. Cards can be used from both games to add even more combos. I could not comment on the components due to it being a review copy and not the final components. I have looked at Gruff and if Clash's components are similar then the quality will be very good. I enjoy the art of the various Gruffs, but would have liked different art for the various cards in the decks. The plastic clips provided to track the various stats work, but are very easy to get bumped and move. Clash only provides 2 Shepherds and 6 Gruffs, so while you can mix up who you use, your still seeing the same characters each game. The amount of variation is greatly increased when you add Gruff and all the characters it provides. This is a nice game to play when you have down time between games or when waiting for more people. I enjoyed the balance of making my Gruffs stronger and when to attack. This is a good game to teach newer ones to head to head games. The additional cards that allow you to customize your deck is great for those players who want more strategy and the feel of building decks in games like Magic the Gathering and YuGiOh. Clash will be staying in my collection to play with family and younger friends.
